Symptoms of pelvic-floor dysfunction include urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and constipation. Numerous comorbidities are associated with pelvic-floor dysfunction, including obesity, back and neck pain, asthma, cardiovascular disease, and psychiatric disorders. There also is a strong association between falls and injurious falls and urinary incontinence.8–11 As key care providers for people with these comorbidities, physical therapists need to be aware of the potential coexistence of pelvic-floor dysfunction.
