THE DIPLOMATE IN OSTEOPATHIC MANIPULATIVE THEORY AND PRACTICE

Course Info

The Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory and Practice is an international course conducted in collaboration with Osteopathic college of Ontario, Canada by Pearl International Institute of medical sciences.
The Osteopathic college of Ontario(OCO) was founded by Dr.Steven Sanet, D.O. as an alternative for those suffering from pain and illness within the current health system, and as an educational center devoted to teaching gentle, osteopathic techniques that allow the body to heal itself.

About Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a form of drug- free non- invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework, which includes the joints, muscles and spine. Its aim is to positively affect the body’s nervous circulatory and lymphatic systems.

This therapy is a unique holistic (whole body) approach to health care. Osteopaths do not simply concentrate on treating the problem area, but use manual techniques to balance all the symptoms of the body, to provide overallgood health and wellbeing.

Dr. Andrew Taylor still established the practice of Osteopathy in the late1800s in the United States of America, with the aim of using manual ‘hands on’ techniques to improve circulation and correct altered biomechanics, without the use of drugs.

The philosophy of Osteopathy is what sets it apart from other medical disciplines. The key principles are based on all part of the body functioning together in an integrated manner. If one part of the body is restricted, then the rest of the body must adapt and compensate for this, eventually leading to inflammation, pain, stiffness and other health conditions. When the body is free of restrictions in movement, Osteopathic treatment assists the body with pain minimisation, reduced stress and greater mobility providing the body with the opportunity to heal itself.

Course Duration

The Osteopathic College of Ontario in collaboration with PIIMS is conducting a comprehensive program in Osteopathic Manipulation. The Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory & Practice is an intensive program that can be completed in two years in India.

This program is designed specifically for existing healthcare practitioners. The program is built around ten three-day quanta given five times in 2 year plus individualized clinical training.

Our program combines hands-on training, active clinical training in an osteopathic clinic and online home study to give the practitioner a full 2288 hour program. The program will be completed with each student presenting a clinical thesis. The thesis is prepared under the tutelage of a chosen professor.

The clinical training and thesis distinguishes our program and are essential components which afford our students the most complete classical osteopathic education.
